WHAT DO SANITARY PADS CONSIST OF?

In this world that we live in people are always wondering what are in our foods that we eat and the drinks we drink but have people been wondering what are in our sanitary pads that makes it so expensive. Our pads and liners are made from materials, designed to provide great comfort and protection. Soft top layer and secondary layer made of synthetic materials similar to those used in garments and in underwear. These synthetic materials are used to quickly channel the liquids into the absorbent core and keep your skin dry.

Flexible core made from absorbent cellulose. In a different thinner form, this material is used in different items such as tea bags & everyday garments. This absorbent material has been used in pads since 1920s. The flexible core is wrapped in a thin synthetic layer to keep it together with absorbent gel pearls added to the core, to improve the absorbency.

The Odour Neutralizing Technology is an exclusive material that contains selected components with a light scent similar to perfume. It is applied to the bottom of the absorbent core layer; thus optimized to mask and neutralize malodour in pads. Moisture proof back layer made from synthetic materials to keep the fluid inside then adhesive is used to ensure the pad adheres to panty.

WHY WASHABLE PADS?

People have decided to make the washable pads as I made a few washable pads to see how it works but why should we as girls make washable pads when we have a government that is willing to help men and woman empowerment but they are not consisting the fact that we as females need free pads because there are females that cannot afford pads.

There has been a new saying that has been going around saying that the future is female but I think that the statement itself holds so much power it reminds to us as females we are the future but why are they forgetting the fact that we cannot be the future if we are staying out of school because we don’t have pads. Why make washable pads when the government could sponsor us as girls with pads because I feel like it’s a basic need for us as girls to have pads. During lockdown things have become so hard, some of my friends had to make washable pads because of everything that was going on after the government promised that us as young girls would be put first in regards to us having pads and being able to go to school and not having to miss a few days of school. #HELPUS

TAMPONS VS PADS?

Tampons are little cotton cylindrical pads that fit inside your vagina. They are currently the most popular menstrual product. They come in different absorbencies to accommodate light to heavy periods. Their size makes them insignificant enough to fit in a tiny pocket or in the palm of your hand, so they’re fitting and unnoticeable .There are some pros of using Tampons. You can swim in them. You don’t have to worry about them being visible. You can’t feel them when they’re in properly.

The biggest disadvantage towards the wearing of tampons is the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS). It’s a rare but life-threatening complication of certain types of bacterial infections. Inserting them can be uncomfortable, especially when trying a new one. Finding the right size and type for your flow takes some tests. They have a big environmental impact. They can sometimes irritate and dry out your vagina, making it itchy and uncomfortable.

PADS

Pads are rectangles of absorbent materials that stick to the inside of your underwear. They’ve come a long way from generation to generation. They are also some pros of wearing pads. They come in lots of options to accommodate changes in your flow and activities. They carry almost no risk of TSS. You can wear them overnight. You don’t need to insert anything. You can’t swim in them, like you can when wearing a tampons, there’s the environmental factor. They can shift out of place and wrinkle up in the centre when you’re moving. They aren’t very discreet, you can’t wear them in thongs or G-strings. I like the thought of wearing a pad because I never tried wearing a tampon but I think I like wearing a pad as it is a bit better for me .  - Tumeeshu Reiters
